One of West Londons most desirable developments, the prestigious West 3 apartments in Bromyard Avenue, Acton, has been provided with cost-effective and efficient drainage solutions from Alumasc, the market leading exterior building products specialists.
The stunning Whitehall-style building, which was formerly government offices, has been transformed into modern luxury flats and studios with Berkeley Homes succeeding to retain the imposing period frontage. As their first major venture into the refurbishment market, Berkeley Homes were presented the challenge of integrating the classical features with the contemporary and specialist manufacturer Alumasc was able to ensure that rainwater is handled in the most discreet and visually pleasing manner.
Several of Alumasc’s products were specified, including the company’s high performance Harmer roof drainage system, teamed with their integrated fascia, soffit and gutter components. Water from the flat roof is drained through highly efficient flush-mounted roof outlets and carried away via an unobtrusive set of rainwater pipes, which subtly enhance and reflect the building’s strong linear presence. Guttering is incorporated within Alumasc’s aluminium fascia/soffit system and Alumasc’s HDPE pipework was specified to complete the installation.
The West 3 development is an outstanding example of how redundant or industrial premises can be successfully utilised to meet housing needs. The project has won recognition for ‘Best Sustainable Development’ and a Liveable City ‘Built Environment’ award and Alumasc’s input in the form of products that are designed to last for the lifetime of the building contribute to the overall sustainability of the whole project.
